ALZHEIMERS DISEASE(AD)
It is a slowly progressive brain disease. It is the most common cause of dementia(loss of brain function occurs with certain disease)in elderly people.
Mostly occurs in older people i.e after the age of 50 and becomes more advanced with increase in age.
It is mostly sporadic(occurs at random)but about 10 % patients
have family history of dementia. It is associated with memory impairment ,loss in ability, personality loss etc

     Types of Alzheimers disease(AD)
It is of two types-Presenile dementia and Senile dementia.

presenile dementia
.Also known as early oneset AD
.Symptoms occurs in younger ages.i.e before the age of 60 years
.It is less common than senile dementia.
.It runs in families.several genes have been identified which is responsible for this.

Senile dementia
.It is also known as late onset AD
.It is the most common form of the disease
.Develops in people of older age i.e 60 years and after it.
.It runs in some families but the about the role of genes which cause this is not much clear.

Morphological changes during alzheimers disease

Death of the nerve cell in the cerebral part of the brain is the main cause of alzheimers disease.
With the death of the nerve cell that is neurons chemicals(neurotransmitter) that help nerve cells to communicate with each other decreases due to this there is lack

of proper coordination and because of this area of the brain which earlier work together become disconnected.
This leads to shrinking of the brain.
